Cebu City – Beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 will soon hear the broadcast of the Family Development Sessions (FDS) through the partnership with the National Nutrition Council (NNC) 7’s Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program.
NNC 7, together with the DSWD RFO7’s FDS regional focal person and the key personnel of the three Nutriskwela Community Radio Stations in Central Visayas, has recently held a series of virtual dialogues where details of the program, including station handling, anchors, airtimes, program flow, and station policies were discussed.
DSWD RFO7 FDS focal person Ms. Emmalyn P. Morada said that the department recognizes the crucial role of community radio stations in disseminating the right information to the public, especially amidst the pandemic where correct and up-to-date information is much needed.
According to NNC 7’s Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Parolita A. Mission, the tie-up is a very good opportunity to reach households with malnourished children for them to receive correct and relevant health and nutrition information, as most of them are also the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya program. She added that the strategy will not only reach those captured program beneficiaries but also the other listeners that can be reached by the community radio broadcasts.
Family Development Session (FDS) is one good venue for the Pantawid Pamilya household grantees and parents to enhance and learn new skills and knowledge in responding to their parental roles and responsibilities particularly on health and nutrition, education, and psychosocial needs of children; promotion of positive family values; and strengthening marital relationships.
The Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program is an initiative of the National Nutrition Council aiming to empower the community through the dissemination of correct, relevant, and up-to-date nutrition and health as well as educational and developmental information from pertinent sectors of the community, government agencies, and non-government organizations.
Instead of a monthly session, a weekly broadcast is eyed to discuss variety of topics and sub-topics for a better understanding. Broadcast materials will also be made available in the stations’ respective Facebook pages to allow the beneficiaries to review and listen to the topics once again.
The Family Development Session On-Air is set to be heard every week in the three nutriskwela community radio stations in Central Visayas, namely Radyo Kaigsoonan in Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental, Radyo Kahimsug in Barili, Cebu, and Radyo Kalampusan in San Francisco, Cebu on the first quarter of this year.
